Faraday has lived on the web and on the Mac. And the request that kept coming back, from people who already use it there, was wonderfully simple. The phone!
We are very excited to be bringing the richness and intelligence of Faraday from its web and desktop versions to the mobile app. iOS and Android, together, on the same day. One launch. Both platforms. The same inbox you already know, finally in a pocket.
A phone is a tricky place to do this. The screen is small. The moment is short. You are between meetings, or walking, or holding the thing in one hand. Fitting what Faraday already does on a wide display into that little window takes real care. It is also, honestly, good fun. The limit is the brief, and we are enjoying it.
We said so this week on Product Hunt. Back in August, on LinkedIn, the mobile apps were named next to a simpler inbox view. That view has since shipped. The phone is what is still ahead, and we are glad it is.
A few seconds, and a small screen
On a laptop you can sit with a long thread. On a phone you have the walk between meetings. A few seconds. A screen that cannot hold twenty replies. That is the whole design problem, and it is a lovely one.
Faraday already tells a LinkedIn update from a client email, a verification code from a vendor invoice. On the phone, the useful part sits up front: the ask, the amount, the date, or the code. You get the point without digging through the message. That richness does not get left on the desk.
Long threads come along too. You see where the conversation landed and what is still open, instead of scrolling the whole chain with your thumb. That is the first thing we are getting right on iOS and Android, because on a small screen it is the product.
What you can open today
The web app, and Faraday for Mac. Gmail, Google Workspace, and Outlook. People are already on it from Denmark and Australia to the US, Canada, and South Africa. The phone apps are that same inbox, for the minutes you are not at a desk. Same intelligence. Same sense of what an email actually is. Just shaped for a screen you can hold.
When both apps go live, the launch note goes on the Product Hunt thread. Follow it if you want the moment they drop. We will be just as happy to post it.
Is Faraday on the App Store or Google Play yet?
Not yet! iPhone and Android are coming together. The launch note goes up when both are live.
Will the iPhone and Android apps launch separately?
They ship on the same day. Both, together. That felt like the fair way to do it.
What works first on the phone?
The point of the email, up front: the ask, the amount, the date, or the code. And a thread that shows where the conversation landed, instead of a stack of replies. The richness of the web and desktop apps, squeezed onto a screen that has to earn every pixel.
Do I need a new email account for the mobile apps?
Faraday is the client for the Gmail, Google Workspace, and Outlook accounts you already use on the web and on Mac. The phone apps are that client, coming with you.
